A dozen members of the Social Club gathered a collection of personally meaningful objects, both timeless and ephemeral, and shared those for artfully arranged object compositions. These elegantly arrayed objects, paired with lovely stories behind them, were inspired by a desire in those distanced and isolating times, to recognize the great potency and emotional significance small odds and ends took on when imbued by nostalgia, fear, loss, hope, and longing. The series aimed to convey some sense of the feelings from these objects, some modest and others extravagant, and imbue them with the personal hidden histories. Like a traditional portrait, they aspired to faithfully show the inner beauty of these lovely people.
Twelve photographs, each exploring traditions of foretelling the future, from chiromancy, tasseography, palmistry, scrying, &c.
Each parcel contained a matched pair of images, themed on twelve intimate topics such as lips, nails, shoes, ties, &c.
This varied series included some lovely little oddities: a tiny coloring book, a small paper doll, recipe cards, and even a pre-publication copy of my book on etiquette (now more readily available).
